Wisdom Wednesday with Angus: Take the time to lay in the grass and watch the clouds!

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”

Every time I take a picture of Angus, he some how gets a bit cuter! I don’t know how he does it!

This one is easy for dogs! They have no problem laying around, soaking up the sun, and taking in the day. In fact, it is their favorite thing to do! Angus has no problem taking some “me time” and not feeling like he has wasted his day.

I, on the other hand, struggle with this! It is so hard, especially during the summer, to feel like I haven’t wasted my time if my day is not packed with amazing and productive activities. I will venture to say most humans are this way. It is almost like we are in competition with each other when we announce how busy we have been.

“Gaaaaahhh…. I have been so busy!”

“Me too, I’ve barely slept.”

“Oh ya, well I only got 4 hours of sleep in the past two nights combined.”

How come you win when you don’t take care of yourself? Rest is actually a productive activity! It allows you to slow down, notice something you may have missed, and allows you to reset.

The summer is the perfect time to slow down and lay in the grass! For one, the grass is green and soft. Also, summer is for enjoyment. In fact life is for enjoyment.

Just do yourself a favor. Lay down in the grass and let nature and your imagination take you away!
